弥勒菩萨(梵文Maitreya)，意译为慈氏，音译为梅呾利耶、梅怛俪药，佛教八大菩萨之一，大乘佛教经典中又常被称为阿逸多菩萨，是释迦牟尼佛的继任者，常被尊称为弥勒佛。被唯识学派奉为鼻祖，其庞大思想体系由无著、世亲菩萨阐释弘扬，深受中国佛教大师道安和玄奘的推崇。
该造像全跏跌坐於千层莲花宝座上，左手持布袋置腿弯处，右手持衣缘一角至胸前，手腕配有钏环。头饰螺髮，肉髻高耸，宝珠顶严。面相方圆端正，眉间凸显白毫，眉目细长，眼脸下垂，双目微睁，俯瞰芸芸众生，双耳如蒲扇，倾听世间万音。鼻梁英挺，嘴角微露笑意，五官匀称，脸型仪美。肩宽厚胸，躯体挺直，手脚刻画生动写实，造型匀称，形体饱满。上身着袒右肩式袈裟，左肩覆搭袈裟一角，下身着高束腰长裙，衣缘錾刻精美的花纹，纹路飘逸自然。全跏趺坐於圆形莲花宝座上，莲座周遭装饰四层仰莲瓣，瓣叶饱满规整，挺拔有力，宛若盛开的大莲蓬，极具装饰意味，充分地显示出极高的等级与神格。整尊造像法相庄严，品相完美，气势恢宏。

Maitreya　Bodhisattva　is　currently　residing　in　the　Tushita　heaven,　the　next　Buddha　to　appear　in　the　world.　The　venerable　Maitreya　was　invested　as　the　king　of　the　gods　in　the　Tushita　heaven　by　the　Victorious　One　himself　and　is　the　archetypal　model　for　the　Mahayana　tradition　of　the　Paramita　approach.
The　statue　is　sitting　with　crossed-legs　on　a　Melaleuca　lotus　pedestal.　In　his　left　hand　holding　a　bag　on　his　lap,　while　in　his　　right　hand　he　is　holding　a　piece　of　his　clothing　to　the　chest.　With　his　hair　to　plait　braided,　and　a　ball　on　top　of　his　hair.　His　facial　expression　is　peaceful,　with　small　lips　and　round　face.　The　face　of　this　Buddha　is　solemn,　perfect　and　magnificent.
