金刚手又名“秘密主”，因其手持金刚杵而得名，具有除恶降魔的广大神力，是大势至菩萨的忿怒化现，属金刚部，为藏传佛教崇奉的三大依怙主之一。金刚手具足威势权力，制服诸魔外道，消灭地水火风所生灾难。信众一切所求，如愿成就。
金刚手形象有多种，最常见者为此一面三目造型。此像作展立状，髻顶饰有释迦摩尼祖师像，头戴五叶宝冠，冠沿由一条蛇盘缠其上，髮髻及眉须呈火焰状，束带立於宝冠两侧，面生三目，怒目圆睁，口张卷舌，獠牙外露，神态威严，表示大无畏，大忿怒，摄人心魂，双耳圆铛为空心，边沿刻着连珠。右手高举金刚杵，上身坦露，肢体圆浑，富有张力，项饰璎珞，嵌绿宝，以蛇为饰，立於左肩之上。手腕及脚踝饰有蛇状钏环，飘逸的帔帛富有律动感，腰围虎皮，虎爪雕饰写真。腿右曲而左伸，赤脚踩在单层莲花宝座上，莲瓣短而鼓，做工精湛。整像铸胎厚重，局部雕刻细致生动，栩栩如生。

Vajrapani　is　a　wrathful　Tutelary　Deity,　representing　the　power　of　all　Buddha.　He　holds　aloft　in　the　right　a　Vajra.　The　left　hand　extended　to　the　side　displays　a　wrathful　gesture.　His　hair　flows　upward　from　the　top　of　the　head.　Adorned　with　ornaments,　a　crown,　and　a　bracelet,　the　upper　body　is　covered　with　the　skin　of　a　snow　lion.　The　lower　body　is　wrapped　with　a　tiger　skin.　He　is　standing　on　the　upward　lotus　pedestal,　his　right　leg　bent　and　his　left　leg　straight.
Vajrapani　is　also　called　“The　Lord　of　Secret”.　It　is　one　of　the　Vajras,　the　incarnation　of　the　Mahasthamaprapta　Bodhisattva.　In　the　legend,　the　canon　of　Esotericism　which　has　been　taken　out　from　the　iron　tower　by　Nagarjuna　is　edited　by　Vajrapani　who　gained　the　name　because　of　holding　a　Vajra's　poke.
